More and more, we're reading articles on "the future of patient engagement" and the potential for mobile healthcare (mHealth). While Healthcare lags behind in technology, many of us see this "future state" as unrelastic as the Jetsons cartoon was years ago ... robots in our homes, flying cars, appliances that make food suddenly appear.

Those individuals in our industry who are not seeing it as far fetched are able to look past the challenges standing in the way. These challenges include limitations of telemedicine, ability to securely transfer PHI and patient privacy, along with the extreme difficulties that surround patient identity.

Consider this article, How Connected Healthcare will Change Patient Engagement, published on April 20, 2016, in Health IT Outcomes. The potential impact of technology on modern medicine — just the benefits of reduced readmissions alone — is so great, we have not choice but to find a way past the hurdles described above, and move Healthcare into the future.

On August 18, we hosted an educational webinar on this very topic. We discussed why it's important to explore mHealth and new technologies now, to meet your patients' demands in the future.
