Summer Webinars Include Smart Pumps and Saratoga Guest Speaker

Written by Laurie Blount, Director of Medical Device Integration, Iatric Systems

It’s been a little while since our last post. Please forgive the lapse — we’ve been busy connecting medical devices to EHRs at many hospitals. And we have another Smart Pump EHR Integration implementation currently scheduled to go live in September.

Connecting smart pumps to your EHR is a complex project, but well worth it. Doing so improves patient safety, saves your nurses time, and helps increase IV reimbursements. If you’re interested in learning more about Smart Pump EHR Integration, we’re hosting three webinars this summer on the subject, including one where Amy Speanburg, MS, RN, Clinical Informatics Specialist at Saratoga Hospital will join us as our guest speaker.

Connect Your Smart Pumps to MEDITECH
July 24th, 2:00 p.m. ET

If you’d like to connect your smart pumps to MEDITECH, we recommend you start planning now. This webinar is part education, part demonstration. We’ll cover:

  • Special Focus on Revenue Improvement
  • Smart Pump Programming
  • Auto-Documentation
  • Workflow Comparison — Before & After
  • Demonstration — Step by Step
  • Types of Testing Required
  • Q&A

Only two hospitals in the world have connected smart pumps to the MEDITECH system. Attend this webinar to find out how they did it, and how you can do it, too.

Saratoga Hospital Connects Smart Pumps to MEDITECH
August 16th, 2:00 p.m. ET

This webinar is a repeat performance of an educational session Amy Speanburg and I presented at International MUSE in May of this year.

In 2017, Saratoga Hospital was named a “most wired hospital” by Hospitals and Health Networks magazine. To quote Saratoga’s CIO, John Mangona, “The ‘most wired’ designation tells our community that we continually seek new ways to put technology to work to benefit our patients.”

Connecting Saratoga’s smart pumps with MEDITECH definitely puts technology to work to benefit patients. This educational session will describe the hospital’s journey in detail to help others profit from their experience. Topics to be covered include:

  • What smart pump integration is
  • The reasons why Saratoga chose to do it
  • Who participated in the project, and the FTEs it required
  • How workflow was analyzed and improved
  • What testing entailed (much more than simply testing every IV drug)
  • End user training

This has been a complex project involving Nursing, Pharmacy, IT, and Biomedical Engineers. Since Amy is a nurse, this webinar will have a heavy focus on Nursing, but Pharmacists and anyone interested in connecting smart pumps to MEDITECH will benefit from attending, too.

Connect Your Smart Pumps to MEDITECH
August 21st, 2:00 p.m. ET

It’s summertime — people take vacation. For those of you who cannot attend the July 24th webinar, this August webinar will cover the same material:

  • Special Focus on Revenue Improvement
  • Smart Pump Programming
  • Auto-Documentation
  • Workflow Comparison — Before & After
  • Demonstration — Step by Step
  • Types of Testing Required
  • Q&A

If you’d like to connect your smart pumps to MEDITECH, we recommend you start planning now. We look forward to seeing you online during one or more of our summer webinars.
